Many of the activities on these pages may require adult supervision.
Be sure to tell a grown-up about what you're planning and ask for permission before getting started.

Container Gardening.

You don't need land to grow a garden. You need soil. You can put soil in large pots, plastic dishpans, or wooden boxes lined with plastic right on your terrace or windowsill.

For flowers, try marigolds and petunias. If you don't have much sun, try impatiens. All vegetables need sun.
Try pixie hybrid tomatoes, bush beans, bush cucumbers, and lettuce. Buy seeds at a garden center (often located in a variety store, hardware store or discount store). Read the package first to see if the seeds you are interested in can be grown in containers. Be sure to follow directions.

If you don't feel like starting your plants from seed, check the plant stores in your area. Many of them will be selling small plants that were started from seed in a nursery. Ask for growing instructions.
