Here’s a teaching idea from
Rachel Kamin, Director of the Temple Israel Libraries & Media Center
in West Bloomfield, MI: |
||||||||||||||||||||
| “We
acted out Jean Marzollo’s Bible stories in class and later with parents.
If you notice, the books are written almost like plays so it's easy to give
out parts. With the 3rd Grade classes, several students volunteered to
read each part. For example, with Daniel in the Lions’ Den, students
read the parts for Daniel, the troublemakers, King Darias, the angel, and the
ants while the teacher was the narrator. The rest of the students acted
out the part of the lions. This works especially well if you have multiple
copies of the book. It’s fun to get parents involved, too.
At a parent/child program for our early childhood center students, we asked
several parents to volunteer to read the parts and the kids all got to be the
lions. The same model will work with the other books in the series: Miriam
and Her Brother Moses, David and Goliath, Jonah and the Whale (and the Worm),
and Ruth and Naomi.” |
