I wrote My First Book of Biographies to show that girls and boys of all cultures and backgrounds can grow up to be powerful adults. The 45 historical people in this non-fiction book come from different times in history and different kinds of families. Some were rich, many were poor. Some were political leaders, and some were scientists. Some were athletes, and some were artists. How were they alike? They all loved their work, and they worked hard.

Irene Trivas did a wonderful job illustrating all of these marvelous people.

My First Book of Biographies book was published in 1994. The people in it are still famous, but since 1994 many more people have become famous. Who are they? Maybe someday you will write about them.
