I like to look at pictures of birds painted by artists around the world and throughout history. I started painting pictures of birds about 15 years ago. Some were realistic and some were fanciful. I wanted to do a book with bird pictures I could paint myself. But what would the book be about? I decided to make it a counting book with plastic eggs that hatch. I had fun painting the imaginary eggs and birds. At the end nine hatched birds say “Hi” in English, Spanish, and Italian to the rather amazed tenth bird.
