Valentine Cake. Frost a cake with pink frosting. Decorate with small, heart-shaped Valentine candies.

Punch made from ginger ale and frozen strawberries

DECORATIONS

At each place tape a pink balloon with the guest's name written on it with markers. For place mats use large doilies.

Fill paper candy baskets with Valentine candies and place one on each doily.

Hang doilies and cut-out hearts from the ceiling.

INSIDE GAME AND ACTIVITY, NONCOMPETITIVE

Valentine Treat Box Game. Decorate a big cardboard box to look like a Valentine box. Cut arm holes in each side. Fill the box with small treats (potato chips, gum, lollipops, toy cars, toy airplanes, comic books). To play, a blindfolded guest reaches in the box, feels something, pulls it out, holds it up, and must identify it in order to keep it.

INSIDE GAMES, COMPETITIVE

1. Hot Valentine. Play like Hot Potato but pass around a Valentine card.

2. Valentine Contest. Give a prize for the Valentine that is prettiest, funniest, best rhymed, and so on. Make sure everyone gets a prize.

OUTSIDE GAMES, NONCOMPETITIVE

1. Valentine Hunt. Play like a Candy Hunt. Hide a Valentine for everyone. The names should be clearly marked on the outside of the envelopes. Guests find their own cards and leave the others untouched. At the end everyone hunts for the cards still missing.

2. Sardines

Valentine Scavenger Hunt. Play like a Scavenger Hunt. Collect things for making Valentines: lace, yarn, doilies, hearts, gold stars, tape, glue, silver and gold paper, and so on.
